Things to do Locally

On sunny days, head down to the lake and take a swim or just relax on the sandy beach. Canoe, kayak, or fish on our international Lake Wallace, the area’s other pristine glacial lakes, and the nearby majestic Connecticut River.

Trek Vermont, New Hampshire, and Canada’s Eastern Townships in a day’s trip!

Bring your clubs along on your vacation and experience the Colebrook Country Club, or head north into Canada  to the ‘Club de Golf de Coaticook’ or the ‘Club de Golf Lac Lyster’.

Experience the culture of neighboring Canada … ask about Jackson’s Lodge ‘Eastern Township food tour’. In Coaticook, catch breathtaking views of “The Gorge” while crossing the longest suspended pedestrian footbridge in the world! In the evening, witness the marvel and splendor of internationally renowned enchanting outdoor light show ‘Foresta Illumina’. (Don’t forget to bring your passport.)

Wander down to the Canaan Recreation Park for a few hours of tennis while the kids enjoy the playground or explore the rest of the park. If raining, take the kids to the heated swimming pool at the North Country Community Recreation Center in Colebrook, New Hampshire.

April’s Maple sugar house is a favorite destination with treats for family members young & old!

During the day, Jackson’s has equipment available for horseshoes, volleyball, soccer, baseball & wiffle ball, basketball, cornhole, and backyard jenga. On rainy days, come into the Lodge and play table tennis, watch a movie, put together puzzles, or borrow one of the many available board games.

Grab your fishing pole and head down to the lake to see what you can catch. Rowboats, canoes, kayaks, electric motors and life jackets are all available onsite.

Or, get out your GPS-enabled device and find a local geocache, or try your luck at gold panning in area streams.

Cycle quiet roads, remote dirt tracks, or technical mountain biking ‘Circuits Frontieres’ on breathtaking Mont Hereford, East Hereford, Quebec, Canada (just twenty minutes drive from Jackson’s Lodge; don’t forget your passport) – Canadian’s alternative to ‘Kingdom Trails’ in East Burke, VT. (fifty minutes commute). Specific destinations – go to ‘See & Do’ tab, drop-down ‘The Great Outdoors’, click ‘Bicycling’.
